Rahim Sheikh | Farmer, Tafal Bari,Bagharhat

I have lost all my crops, house and assets…

It was heavy rain with storm! I saw fire flames in the river. I thought, there was an electric fire in Bagarhat! After I have got confirmed, it was sparking of saline water wave in the river! People had said, just after that firing, the high water wave came! After SIDR on Thursday, I had come from Bhagarhat by walking and seen many dead bodies on the road! The roadside tree was broken catastrophically by storm! The houses were mashed up! Crop was destroyed! All were massacred, finished!

After arrival in home, I saw, my houses submerged  by saline water and covered by water hyacinth! High speed water current was moving down to river! I could not identify neighbors’ houses as plain land and river became one! With assumption, I moved around and find the cyclone center! In the house, there were nothing! I got confused in horror circumstance! I could not understand whether I should take care of injured people or cry! I had lost words! I was too shocked! Whenever people had come out from cyclone shelter, there was no food. Whenever we had got something, we have share with each other and eaten together!

The people with food stock, gave and shared with us cordially! From around country, many people came and helped us with food, medicine. Such way we had passed a number of days. There were no fruit in the tree, all were finished! On the way coming from Bagerhat, the roads were blocked with broken trees! Military came and cleaned the road so that vehicle could move smoothly! However, I had arrived around 4 PM in Morolgonj after long walk!

I had seen several dead bodies lying down in the road! Tree and road were seriously damaged! After ‘Tafal Bari’ ( place name), I had seen many dead bodies together ! River bank and house were become one with water level!

As the SIDR was happened in daytime, many people’s lives were saved, but if it was happened in night – nobody would be able to alive! We thought, it perhaps our last day of life ! God’s blessing, I am still alive!

I had asked my mom that, where is my father? Mother had replied, my father is not to be found out yet!

We were inside our house! After that we went in a room of cyclone shelter! My aunty said, water is coming! Just after her saying, water came and covered the road quickly with flash waves! My brother was died in cyclone center! I lost also my sister, and my father was washed way in water current from my mother loveshake < weeping >! One woman saved my life and gave shelter in a tree after collected me from the river bank! After that one person came and asked me , are you alone? I said, yes! He brought me in the shelter center from the tree shelter! From that cyclone shelter center, my grand mother brought me to my aunty. In that place, I met with mother. I asked mother, where is my father ? Mother said, we are not finding your father!
