স্বরস্বতী পূঁজা: Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of wisdom, art and music. She is the daughter of lord Shiva and goddess Durga. Hindu, especially in Bangladesh Hindu believers celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm in temples, schools and households with pray and worship. Common believes, goddess Saraswati endows human beings with the powers of speech, wisdom and learning. She has four hands representing four aspects of human personality in learning; mind, intellect, alertness and ego. She has sacred scriptures in one hand and a lotus in another hand which is symbol of true knowledge. With her other two hands, she plays the music of love and life with Veena. The Veena is a string instrument. She wear white dress which is the is symbol of purity and rides on a white swan that express purity and discrimination.

Saraswati Puji as religious festival has been celebrated every year in the fifth day of Bangla ‘Magh’ month. In Indian calendar the day is mentioned as ‘Vasant Panchami’. It is believed that in this day, goddess Saraswati was born. She is the personification of knowledge – arts, science, crafts. She represents shakti, creativity and inspiration. Educational institutions organize special prayers in this day for Hindu students. The students place books before the deity to get blessing from Saraswati. On puja day, the believers eat vegetable only and initiate children into the world of education.
