SDS has started its work during the devastating flood in 1987 and 1988 initiated by Mozibur Rahman, the founder of the organization through small-scale relief and rehabilitation programme at Shariatpur district with the aim of improving the quality of life for the disadvantaged people in the country, specially the people of Shariatpur, Madaripur and Faridpur districts. Drishtipat  is a  non-profit, non-partisan volunteer  organization committed to  safeguarding human rights in Bangladesh  through action-oriented projects  that provides direct assistance to  those individuals whose voices remain  unheard today.

It was started in 2001 as a response to an increasing feeling of helplessness faced by expatriate Bangladeshis at the human rights violations in Bangladesh. Now Drishtipat with its strong online presence has 8 chapters all around the world in USA, UK, Canada, Australia and Bangladesh. Apart from this Drishtipat has a creative arm called Drishtipat Creative and it has an arm for the thought leaders called Drishtipat Writers’ Colective.

Sushasoner Jonny Procharavizan – SUPRO, a national netwok of grassroots NGOs in Bangladesh, working to establish economic, social and cultural rights of poor and marginalized people at all spheres of society and state through facilitating right based activism at grassroots, national and global level. SUPRO critically analyses global and national level rules, regulations and policies to facilitate grassroots activism to make these work for the poor and marginalized people. As an institutional strategy, SUPRO works with the grassroots NGOs and CSOs to unite their voices aiming to sensitise and influence the national and global leaders and policy makers with a view to bringing about desired policy changes beneficial for the people in general and poor and marginalized in particular.
