Janmashtami

Janmashtami (জন্মাষ্টমী の画像検索結果 ) is a Hindu religious festival based to celebrate birth day of Lord Krishna. During the celebration, across the country amid festivity and religious ritual have been arranged by Hindus believers. Hindu religious and community organizations organize various event and activities including prayers, sermons, puja, discussion, padabali kritan, Geeta Jaggyam, praise of Krishna, drama and cultural performance in Hindu temples.

In the capital Dhaka, thousands of men, women and children join the historical Janmashtami rally. The big procession generally brought out from the Dhakeshwari Temple to Bahadur Shah Park after parading in different roads.

Hindu faith, 5,500 years ago Lord Krishna, (the incarnation of God) was descended in this world as the human being to establish the realm of love, truth, and justice.

সৈকত সংস্কৃতি: Cox’s Bazar again came to the lime light by competing as a natural wonders of the world. 121 KM lengthy this sandy sea beach is the longest and least-crowded beaches of the world. Still now most part of this beach is virgin, did not captured totally by commercialization. However the Cox’s Bazar is most desired tourist spot for all Bangladeshi. Nowadays based beach the urbanization is increasing. World class exotic hotels, motels and resorts have been established. But the local people still now poor living by finishing, agriculture and tourism based small entrepreneurship. The hotel investment mostly comes from outside of the district, majority owners are from Dhaka and Chittagong as complete business men.

Because of tourism here the market price here high compare to other places of Bangladesh. The communication from Dhaka and Chittagong here good. There luxurious bus and local airline services. “Saudia Aslam’ is the latest addition of ‘Marcity Benz’ bus server. But the global standard beach cultural practices and living environment have not yet been well accepted by the local people because of illiteracy and conservative practices. With the governmental patronization the Cox’s Bazar can be more attractive tourist spot. The months of September and October are best seasons to enjoy the sunset.

Note: Cox’s Bazar is located 150 km south of Chittagong, is also known by the name “Panowa”, the literal translation of which means “yellow flower”. Its other old name was “Palongkee”. The modern Cox’s Bazar derives its name from Captain Cox (died 1798), an army officer serving in British India. Because of climate change, sea level rising and salinity increasing, the city and beach now environmentally under threat.

Saraswati Puja

স্বরস্বতী পূঁজা: Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of wisdom, art and music. She is the daughter of lord Shiva and goddess Durga. Hindu, especially in Bangladesh Hindu believers celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm in temples, schools and households with pray and worship. Common believes, goddess Saraswati endows human beings with the powers of speech, wisdom and learning. She has four hands representing four aspects of human personality in learning; mind, intellect, alertness and ego. She has sacred scriptures in one hand and a lotus in another hand which is symbol of true knowledge. With her other two hands, she plays the music of love and life with Veena. The Veena is a string instrument. She wear white dress which is the is symbol of purity and rides on a white swan that express purity and discrimination.

Saraswati Puji as religious festival has been celebrated every year in the fifth day of Bangla ‘Magh’ month. In Indian calendar the day is mentioned as ‘Vasant Panchami’. It is believed that in this day, goddess Saraswati was born. She is the personification of knowledge – arts, science, crafts. She represents shakti, creativity and inspiration. Educational institutions organize special prayers in this day for Hindu students. The students place books before the deity to get blessing from Saraswati. On puja day, the believers eat vegetable only and initiate children into the world of education.

Ashura, Tajia

মহরম, তাজিয়া: To celebrate ashura thousands people with colorful flags and forged war weapons gathers in the Hussani Dalan, Dhaka, Bangladesh. In old Dhaka and Muhamedpur Ashura celebration is remarkable particularly for wide people’s participation and emotional festivity. Old Dhaka becomes a new Dhaka in this day. The people particularly the young walk & matom, ( grief song ), drumming and hit the body as indemnity to loss of Muhammed (Sm) grand son in Karbala ( now Iraq). This mourning rally is known as Tazia. The women are generally observer but some join. In the rally the male mourners publicly beating their breasts with open palms, knives and or chains for showing the grief.

10th Muharram, the first month of the Hijri (Arabic) calendar is the anniversary of the death of Imam Husain, the Prophet’s grandson, at Kabala. As like as other Muslim countries Bangladesh although observes this day with highest dignity, Ashura is the national holyday in Bangladesh.

Kirton – কীর্তন

Kirton is Hindu mystical religious song with glorification exaltation of love God ‘Radha’ and ‘Krishna’ with the musical mode. During this mystical performance, both singer and audience inspire and unite with total devotion, however, rejoice inner peace centering on God`s love. The word, dance, and music of local instruments create a lovely illusional as well as the graceful environment. Most of the case during pick of prayerful performance, the singers embrace the audience transfer love. With tuning of love the audience cry, forgive and forget all resentment. The believers deem during performance gods come down on the stage and work with the performers. If some one embraces with total acceptance God’s spirit enters and purify the body, and recover the disease and life problems with enormous blessing. The song widely practices by the non-violence stock believers particularly the follower of Choitonno Dev, an ascetic Vaishnava monk and social reformer in 16th century Bengal and Orissa.

Kirton is the mystical performance by which both singer and audience inspire and rejoice inner peace and revelation centering on God`s love. The song is full of Hori`s (God name is called by Hindu ) name and praising. In ancient bangle the Buddhists monks also sang Charya which is an ancient form of Kirton, the songs glorify God both by men and women performed in the same stage in front of love seekers audience with mystical dance, word, and music with local instruments.

Originally Kirton is the song form of Gitagovinda which is a dramatic poem, written by Jaydev in Sanskrit at 12 century, containing songs and dialogue of the three main characters, Radha, Krishna, and Sakhi, With the influence of Bangla mystical poet and ecclesiastic Chaitanya Dev, Vaishnava poets wrote songs based on the story of Radha and Krishna are also sang as Kirton. However, Kirton songs spread throughout Bengal towards the end of 16th century, nowadays popular to Hindu community as part of worship. National poet Nazrul Islam even was Muslim by born, but was famous to write and sang Kirton beyond the religious borders.

First love – mother’s love

“Mayer ekdar dudar dam katia gaier cham….” is one of the popular song of Bangladesh which has been expressed the messages with glory of mother love. In the song it mentioned, mother love and milk is valuable that one body skin.

This small video production is portraying some statements of different personalities from different class of Dhaka city. The all messages are almost same but express the own and unique feeling about mother and mother’s love. Everybody has recognized mother contribution to save live with total love and devotion.

The inner message mother milk is not milk, it is true love. Mother’s love give both physical and spiritual lfe and identity. As like as children of countries, Bangladeshi children also loves mother unconditionally like own self.

“Breast feeding not only transfer the food but also transfer mother’s selfless love, can be called as true love. we made the documentary as black & white to express the eternal emotions as real emotion and love does not have color.

Pohela Boishakh

পহেলা বৈশাখ উৎযাপন: Pohela Boishakh is the first day of Bangla new year celebrated at 14 April with total heart and participation is known as ” Nôbo Bôrsho “. Thousands people on Wednesday poured into the streets, parks and public places across the country. This biggest festival of the Bangali began with Chyanot’s song presentation at the early morning in the Ramna Batamul, Dhaka.

There was no room to move at the Chhayanaut celebrations at Ramna Batamul as the continuation since 1964, brave steps to protest against the Pakistani cultural accusation. Along Ramna Park, the Dhaka University campus, Central Shahid Minar, Dhanmondi, and Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area were sea of peoples.
Local handicrafts, fashion material and artifacts were displayed and sold at Boishakhi Melas in different parts of the capital. Women particularly young girls dress up white saris with red borders and men clothed punjabis, fatua with cultural pride and fashion. The young and children had their cheeks painted with floral designs or slogans by students of fine arts, welcoming the new year.
Different organisations brought out processions and organized musical programmes, fairs and cake festivals to mark the day. Students of the Institute of Fine Arts of Dhaka University took out traditional “Mangal Shobhajatra” in the morning with thousands of revelers wearing chequered masks. The colorful pageant was decorated with paper sculptures of a huge tiger, Doyel (magpie robin) which is the national bird, a rooster and a long snake, and masks of owl, tiger and fish.
In this national event, the security was high in alert by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and reserve police particularly in Roma for attack by fanatic groups.

As the history, the Pohela Boishakh, Bangla calendar has started since Emperor Akbar period. If was introduced in 1556 AC to ease tax collection by matching to the local harvesting sessions. However celebrating by the Bangali with the motivation to start yearly efforts with new vision and spirit. Generally, in countryside the businessperson as well as traders and shopkeepers open “Halkhata” (fresh accounts book) on this day and entertain the customers with sweets. Pohela Boishakh is celebrated in a festive manner in both Bangladesh and West Bengal . In Bangladesh, Pohela Boishakh is a public holiday, celebrated on April 14 according to the official amended calendar designed by the Bangla Academy but in West Bengal at 15 April.

Independence day

 স্বাধীনতা দিবস: Grassroots Celebration in Bangladesh. Expressing patriotic spirit in the independent day, is general trends and motivations for citizen of any country either poor or developed nations. In this day, is generally consider as a special day from general citizen to head of state. Bangladesh also follow this norm from the beginning. In this day the capital Dhaka becomes a city of light and joy. The park, restaurant and entertainment places become crammed full place. The newspapers publish special issues; the media broadcast daylong independence link historical and inspirational programs.

To feature Independence day celebration in grassroots level, we went a remote area, 120 kilometer far from Dhaka. We were impressed to see the huge participation and inspiration of local people particularly rural youth and students. Schools, collages and educational institutes widely joined in the local events with song, dance, parade and fun-acting etc. Although there is no media coverage and national reorganization, but the children and young show impressive patriotism with the patronization of local civil society and administration. Muktagacha Upazila starts the day by offering flower in local ‘Shahid Minar ‘ ( martyr monument). From the early morning, children and youth start to gather in “RK High School” play ground with flag and festoons. The entire environment become cheerful with the joy of freedom.

বসন্ত উৎসব: Boshonto Uthshob – Bangla spring festival celebration. The traditional Bangla spring festival, “Boshonto Uthshob” regularly celebrate in the first day of Falgun ( spring) with enthusiasm. Under the banyan tree of Dhaka university, Charukola Institute every year organize series of culture events with song and dance. The performers and cultural activist wear local dress Fatua and Shari. The women used yellow, colorful shari with Bangladeshi fashion. The young people enjoyed very much and express the original identity of Bangalee culture and spirit. Countrywide, the cultural organisations, clubs of school and collage celebrate this festival with festivities mind and joyful traditional event.

Dance day

নৃত‍্য উৎসব: Bangladesh Nrityashilpi Sangstha (BNS) regularly celebrates ‘International Dance Day’. In the year 2008, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has joined with BNS and organized a three-day program with different activities with the motto, “Nrityer Taal-e Taal-e Bishwa Aaj Ekshathey” ( United World with the rhythm of dance ).

Promising young dancers performed their dance performance in the series of events in TSC of Dhaka university. Majority audience was young and students who want contribute in the realm of “Culture and Development”.

As Bangladeshi is a Muslim dominance country, the dance has not been well recognized. As the changing culture and changing society, along with art the acceptance and view are changing with the influence of global media and global culture. The local dance forms are also now shaping into a new modern form with the combination of western and eastern forms. A number of experimental works have been performed in the celebration.
