Machizo Multimedia provided photography and web design services to the Bangladesh Homeworkers Women Association (BHWA), supporting the organization’s efforts to raise awareness of the lives, work, and rights of women home-based workers in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Homeworkers Women Association (BHWA) is an NGO that has been working with women home-based workers since 1986 to improve their socio-economic status. Its activities encompass a wide range of development initiatives focused on women home workers, including workers’ rights, awareness building, and economic empowerment.
BHWA also collaborates with like-minded international organizations, including HomeNet South Asia and UNIFEM, to strengthen advocacy and create greater opportunities for women working from home.
Ms. Dilruba Anguri, General Secretary of BHWA, has been actively involved in the home-based workers’ sector for many years. She has highlighted the often-overlooked contribution of home workers to the social and economic development of Bangladesh.
A home worker is often the first person to rise in the morning and the last to go to bed at night. Alongside managing household responsibilities, she performs home-based work to earn additional income and support her family.
Despite their significant contribution, women home-based workers remain one of the most neglected groups in Bangladesh. Their hard work, skills, and economic contribution often receive little recognition or value.
Through photography and web design, Machizo Multimedia helped communicate these realities to a wider audience and support BHWA’s advocacy and development initiatives.
