Voice of Climate Victims in Bangladesh
Climate Radio is a podcating project to webcaste the voices of climate-affected people from Bangladesh online. Due to human-induced climate change, many countries are facing increasingly critical conditions, with disruptions in agriculture, health, and livelihoods. Rising poverty and climate-driven migration are becoming widespread. In this global context, Bangladesh is widely recognized as one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world.
New and intensifying environmental hazards are emerging, along with rapid changes in agricultural land, particularly in the southern coastal districts and island regions of Bangladesh. Life and livelihoods in these areas are becoming increasingly difficult, with many people losing homes, assets, and security both directly and indirectly.
This is a crucial time to act against climate change in order to protect lives and livelihoods, especially in highly affected developing countries like Bangladesh.
To raise awareness on climate justice, Climate Radio was launched by Machizo in May 2009. It serves as a platform for the voices of those most affected—sharing interviews and testimonies from climate victims that can contribute to understanding and potential solutions.
